Canarywood, from South America, contains a striking display of colours, with pale yellows and oranges, to darker reddish browns, with darker streaks throughout. It's easy to turn and finishes well, and makes a striking pen.
Nominal size = 150mm x 22mm x 22mm
, which is also known as Ovangkol, has plenty of interest and is often seen on the backs of gutars because of it's highly decorative nature, with its varying shades of yellowish to reddish brown with darker brown, grey, or black stripes. It is prone to dulling tools more quifckly than other woods, so a few more trips to the shapeninng station may be necessary, but the extra effort is worthwhile and the result will be a beautiful looking pen.
