A modular barrel trimming system, with parts available individually, which is suitable for trimming the excess material from the ends of the glued up pen blanks (or barrels)of all Beaufort Ink pen kits.
Precision made in the UK from EN8M hardened steel, the system requires the purchase of a Barrel Trimmer Head to start you off, to which can be added the Barrel Trimmer Shafts (or pair of shafts) that are suitable for the pen kit you are making. Shafts are available to buy separately (per type of pen kit) so that if the head ever needs replacing, (which one day it will, as a result of sharpening), any shafts you own can be used with the new head and do not need to be discarded.
Fit the shaft into the barrel trimmer head and fix it there by means of the hex grub screw in the side of the head. The tail end of the shaft is held in a drill chuck, either on the lathe or in a drill to rotate the whole assembly. The shaft inserts into the pen kit tube, to clear any stray glue that might be in there and to guide the trimmer head so that the end of the blank is trimmed perfectly flush and perpendicular to the tube.
In addition to our barrel trimming system, we also keep magnetic V-blocks and transfer puches in stock, for those who prefer to trim their pen barrels on a disk sander
All our barrel trimmer shafts are supplied in a telescopic component box for safekeeping and ease of storage.
