Bloodwood is a dense hardwood with a tight, straight grain, and produces a pen in beautiful shades of red, varying from bright red to a darker, brownish red. It finishes well to a good, natural lustre, which can be enhanced by the application of chemical finishing products, and often displays a natural chatoyance within the wood.
