The cap finial, centre band, nib connector and nib-barrel finial are all different diameters. If using bushes, identify the two that fit the cap tube - the larger one is for the centre band and the smaller one is for the cap finial. The remaining two fit the nib barrel tube - the larger one is for the nib connector and the smaller one is for the the nib-barrel finial.
ASSEMBLY
Push the spring into the nib-barrel finial before you begin. The wider end of the spring goes in first and is designed to be just held in place by the finial to prevent it being lost by the end user of the pen when replacing a refill.
In the interests of grain alignment, note that the cap thread starts in either of two opposite positions.
By design, the clip gasket is a snug fit on the cap finial, to ensure it does not spin on the assembled cap. Push it onto the finial tenon by hand a short way, and once you are happy with the alignment of the clip in your cap barrel, the finial and clip can be pressed home in one operation.
